The Honorable Denis McDonough is keynote speaker at ACF seminar on religious issues in international diplomacy

Jan 21, 2010 -- Washington D.C. - ACF presents 29th Annual Seminar entitled, "Religion: An Important Factor in International Diplomacy", at the U.S. Department of State Foreign Service Institute. The seminar offered Foreign Service Officers valuable insight on issues of international religious freedom prior to their overseas assignments. More than 850 students and faculty participated in the day-long event, highlighted by keynote speaker, The Honorable Denis McDonough, National Security Council Chief of Staff.

Diplomatic panelists included Ambassador Nancy McEldowney, Ambassador Donald Y. Yamamoto and Ambassador Kurt Volker. Religious panelists included Reverend Dr. Fred R. Anderson, Reverend Father Mark Arey, Imam Yahya M. Hendi, and Reverend Thomas J. Reese, S.J.
