ACF Leads Delegation to Cuba

ACF Leads Delegation to Cuba The ACF will lead an 11-member delegation of representatives from Catholic, Protestant, Jewish and Orthodox Communities on a pre-Chanukah/pre-Christmas mission to Cuba from December 16-19, 2008. The ACF delegation will meet with Cuban religious leaders to further religious freedom, interfaith dialogue and cooperation between the American and Cuban religious communities. The ACF delegation will also meet with top government leaders of Cuba.

Rabbi Arthur Schneier will be joined by Archbishop Khajag Barsamian, Primate, Armenian Church of America and ACF Vice President; Rev. Dr. Fred R. Anderson, Pastor, Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church and ACF Trustee; Rev. Claudio M. Burgaleta, Assistant Professor, Theology and Coordinator of Latino Studies, Fordham University; former New York Governor George Pataki, former U.S. Ambassador Earle I. Mack and ACF Trustee; and former U.S. Ambassador Charles Gargano.

“Eventual normalization of relations between Cuba and the United states can only be aided by direct people to people contact and cooperation of the religious communities of the two countries,” said Rabbi Arthur Schneier.”

The ACF has met on several occasions with President Fidel Castro and top Cuban government officials in the past.
