Appeal of Conscience Foundation Annual Awards More than 600 diplomats, religious and business leaders, and friends attended the Appeal of Conscience Foundation’s (ACF) 2006 Annual Awards Dinner on Sept 19 in New York City, honoring President of Brazil Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva with the World Statesman Award (shown with ACF President Rabbi Arthur Schneier-center- and the evening's principal speaker, Under Secretary of State Nicholas Burns). Bonnie McElveen-Hunter, Chairman of the American Red Cross and John A. Catsimatidis, CEO of the Red Apple Group were honored as well, for their civic commitment to their communities and nations. Rabbi Schneier announced a groundbreaking initiative: he will convene a conference of the world’s top 100 religious leaders under 40 years of age, in Vienna in 2007, for the purpose of “building bridges across divides, and promoting dialogue and cooperation for the next generation of religious leadership.”
